Who Trains Here

Kids And Adults,
Never Mixed Together

Different fears, different pace, same instructor. Every class is built for who's actually in the room.

Kids training at Rhee Taekwondo Oxley
Ages 5+

For Kids

A structured, supportive environment where a shy seven-year-old and a confident ten-year-old both get pushed at the right pace — not the same pace.

  • Real self-defence, taught properly and safely
  • Discipline and focus that carries into school
  • Confidence built through earned progress, not participation trophies
Adult and teen sparring at Rhee Taekwondo Oxley
Teens & Adults

For Adults

No experience necessary, no judgement for starting from zero. Full-body conditioning and practical self-defence, at a pace you set.

  • Trained separately from the kids' class
  • Genuine fitness, not a gym routine you'll quit in March
  • Belt grading pathway if you want it, no pressure if you don't
Why Families Choose Us

5 Reasons Worth
Actually Reading

01

Your child trains under an actual black belt, every single class.

Not a rotating roster of casual instructors. Kwang Jang Nim Aaron is a 4th dan, and he's the one on the mat Tuesday and Thursday, every week. If his name's on the branch, he's teaching your kid.

02

Kids and adults never train together, so nobody feels out of place.

Your seven-year-old isn't sparring next to a grown adult. Your nervous adult beginner isn't self-conscious in front of a room of ten-year-olds. Everyone gets a class built for where they actually are.

03

We train 48 weeks of the year. Closed for 4 weeks only.

No random cancellations, no term that quietly stops in week six. Your kid builds a habit because the class is actually there, week after week.

04

Four trial classes, not a five-minute taster.

You get two full weeks to watch your child grow more confident, not just a single awkward Tuesday to decide on. Come Tuesday, come Thursday, come back and do it again, then decide.

05

It's part of Australia's oldest Taekwondo network, but it still feels like family.

Rhee's been training Australians since 1965. Kwang Jang Nim Aaron's branch is small on purpose — he remembers your kid's name, notices when they're struggling, and says something about it out loud when they've come a long way.

KWANG JANG NIM · 4TH DAN BLACK BELT

Aaron Moxham

Kwang Jang Nim Aaron Moxham is a 4th dan black belt. Fifteen years on the mat, most of them spent building the Oxley branch himself.

Four dan grades under a system that's been in Australia since 1965 — longer than any other Taekwondo organisation here — isn't something you get for turning up on time. It's fifteen years of gradings that actually test you.

But the belt's not what parents mention first. It's how he is with the kids — patient with the ones who are nervous, direct with the ones who need more structure, and paying attention either way. He notices progress and says so, out loud, to the kid.

He's on the mat himself every session. Tuesday and Thursday, 6 to 7pm, Oxley State School. No fill-in instructors, no rotating roster. His name's on the branch because he's the one running it.

Bu Sabum Jack, 1st dan black belt, Rhee Taekwondo Oxley
BU SABUM · 1ST DAN BLACK BELT

Jack

Bu Sabum Jack is a 1st dan black belt and one of the top instructors at Rhee Taekwondo Oxley. He's been training for seven years, and most classes he's on the mat working alongside Kwang Jang Nim Aaron.

A second instructor in the room changes what a class can actually catch. A kid drifting off during a pattern gets noticed straight away instead of five minutes later. A nervous beginner gets someone right next to them instead of waiting for the whole class to catch up.

Seven years in, Jack's still training himself while helping run the room for everyone else, which is most of what being a good assistant instructor actually is.

Bu Sabum Jessica, 1st dan black belt, Rhee Taekwondo Oxley
BU SABUM · 1ST DAN BLACK BELT

Jessica

Bu Sabum Jessica is a 1st dan black belt who's spent seven years on the mat, and these days most of that time goes into the kids' classes. A bored kid quits. Jessica's whole job is making sure that never happens, keeping the class moving, keeping it fun, while still actually teaching the technique underneath it.

Seven years of training got her the black belt. What she brings to the kids specifically is patience, and a way of correcting a kid's form that lands as encouragement, not a telling-off.

Quang, Junior 1st dan black belt, Rhee Taekwondo Oxley
JUNIOR 1ST DAN BLACK BELT

Quang

Quang holds a Junior 1st Dan black belt, reached in just 10 months — one of the fastest gradings the branch has seen. He's been training at Rhee Taekwondo Oxley for four years total, so the belt was closer to the start of his time here than the end of it.

Three years on from grading, he's still training, and now assists Aaron in class. He's generally recognised as the only Junior 1st Dan currently training in Brisbane's southern region.

Rhee Taekwon-Do

World Master Chong Chul Rhee founded Rhee Taekwon-Do in Australia in 1965 — the country's first Taekwondo school, and still its longest-running.

What he built wasn't a single dojang. It became a national network that's since trained generations of Australians, all taught from the same root system he brought with him.

Oxley is one branch inside that network. Kwang Jang Nim Aaron trains under the same lineage, the same grading structure, and the same standards that have held for six decades.

Sixty years is long enough that it isn't a trend. It's simply how Taekwon-Do has been taught in this country since before most parents reading this were born.
